Geek Lover Sale, v3

As some of you may know, I've been taking part in a Facebook-based geek-themed sale every few months hosted by Geeks with Scissors. It's so much fun to have so many geeky artists come together for it! We're having another sale next week for Pi Day. A few of my own products will be there again--Katniss, Sherlock, my Enderman, and a special Pi pie.

It's my Anniversary!

No, it's not my marital anniversary--it's my business' anniversary! It's hard to believe that I've had my shop open for a year already. Then again, it sometimes feels like much longer. At any rate, I decided to host a giveaway to honor the occasion! Who doesn't love free stuff?

Enter to win here: http://prmo.me/6PNwoH

Since my shop is named after Sleeping Beauty, aka Aurora, I decided that she would be the perfect prize for this occasion.

Well, I have more work to do, otherwise I'd stay and chat. I hope to see you all on my Facebook page!

The Doctor Who Timezone

Hello all,

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I decided to move to England.
"England??" you may say. Yes, England. I'm still realizing it myself.

As some of you may know, my husband is in the Air Force. He received orders a couple of weeks ago that he will be stationed at one of the Royal Air Force Bases in England. We'll be moving in the Spring.

How exciting is that!? So far I've compiled the following list of things I must do in England/Europe:

  1. Try real fish and chips
  2. Visit one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants in London
  3. Watch Doctor Who on local TV
  4. Visit France
  5. Visit my Grandma's hometown in Germany (ish)
  6. Visit Germany for Oktoberfest (even though I don't like beer or most German foods)
  7. Visit at least one castle
  8. See the Westminster Abbey
  9. See Big Ben
  10. Visit Stonehenge
  11. Have proper tea
  12. Watch a real football game
  13. Ride on a double-decker bus
  14. Make lots of my Sherlock, Doctor Who, LOTR, and Harry Potter plushies and sell them at a local craft fair

I'm sure I'll find more to do once there.

What does this mean for my business, Drowsy Aurora? It means that I'll need to shut down for a month or two in order to move. After I've set up my studio in England, I'll update my Etsy shop--shipping prices, location, and so forth--to reflect my new location. I hope you'll join me in this journey!

A Geek's Guide to Christmas (or how to find gifts for your geek friends)

It's that time of year again--Thanksgiving is just a few short days away, which marks the beginning of the Christmas hustle and bustle. I know how stressful it can be to find presents for everyone on your list, which is why I've made a list to help you. If you are shopping for the geek in your life, you've come to the right place.

Who doesn't like The Avengers? Well, DC lovers, I suppose, but if your geek does like Marvel, why not get them this adorable set of The Avengers made out of perler beads!

Subatomicdeathkitten Designs, $20

Now, you likely have some friends and family who love Tolkien and his The Lord of the Rings series, even if they're not that geeky. If they're into miniatures as much as I am, they'll love this miniature terrarium of the Baggins' Hobbit-hole.

Face of the Earth, $275

Speaking of LOTR, if you have a geeky friend with a recent newborn, consider gifting The One Ring teething ring.

Treehouse Illustrator, $17

Do you have a friend that LOVES the Harry Potter series? Do they have some extra wall space that could use an awesome decoration? Check out this Leaky Cauldron Pub sign! While you're there, check out some of the other universes in their shop--they have everything from The Princess Bride to Star Wars to Firefly!

Curio Obscurio, $49

If you're looking for a stocking-stuffer, try a trinket from this shop--this one's a cute little 20-sided die!

Dorky Dino, $7

Now, I know what you're thinking, "What if I'm looking for someone who plays video games?" I have just the thing for the gamer who loves Assassin's Creed. What gamer wouldn't want a hoodie like this, even if they don't play Assassin's Creed!

ARTTER, $72

It's a stereotype that nerds don't always...smell that good all of the time. It's much too tacky and tasteless to actually buy them soap, but what if there was a way to give them soap and have them love it? If they aren't fans of Xbox, not to worry, they have other game station controllers, too.

Digitalsoaps, $16

Finally, I must add one item from my shop to this list. If you're shopping for a Star Wars fan, look no further than this adorkable plush doll set made from felt. I also have plushies from Doctor WhoThe Hunger GamesThe Big Bang Theory, and SO many other universes!

Drowsy Aurora, $76

I hope you've enjoyed my list and have been inspired to find gifts for your geeky friends! Remember to shop early from sellers who hand-make items so that you'll receive them in time!
